Description

Nason Construction provided design-build services for this $8.6 million addition and renovation to the Schwartz Physical Education Center at Widener University. The Wellness Center addition totals 26,000 square feet and features a:

  • new athletic training area,
  • viewing room for football team,
  • 24-foot rock climbing wall,
  • two aerobic rooms,
  • gymnasium,
  • natatorium, and
  • field houses.

The multi-level addition has a balcony overlooking the ground level with a two-story dramatic curved and sloping glass curtain wall which serves as the grand feature of the building.

Major site improvements were completed to accommodate a variety of attractions and on-site activities surrounding the athletic program. A new roadway with attractive streetscape and signage was constructed to lead the way to the Wellness Center and to increase usage of the northeast corner of the campus.

This project was completed on a fast-track schedule with only three months for design and six months for construction.
